E. Smith, and another brother (unidentified)
And when the letter has been read among you, cause that it be read also in the assembly of Laodiceans and that ye also read that from Laodicea (Colossians 4:16).
I adjure you by the Lord that the letter be read to all the holy brethren (1 Thessalonians 5:27).
In the letter, there was something valuable to be gleaned in the reading of it for the Colossians. A message for the husbands, wives, children, servants, and masters. There was a word there for even the children to hear in the presence of the Lord.
In the assembly, where the Lord Jesus Christ is in the midst, it is our blessed privilege to be there together, and all, as often as we possibly can. We want to hear what THE LORD has to say. And we should not exclude the children (“leave them at home”), because we can never tell when the Lord has something to say to them.
